The Green Workforce Training Center is located in Indianapolis just north of downtown. It will serve as a training and educational facility for careers in sustainable technology. The building itself is an important element of the educational experience by demonstrating sustainable practices in its site and mechanical systems. By considering the building’s reactions to the elements each effect can be considered and utilized to build a living building. Harvesting the natural light and capturing it’s power using photovoltaic panels and collecting water to reduce the non-potable water demand. The vegetated roofs will help insulate the building, reduce runoff, and increase the inhabitable square footage. The winds from the west will ventilate and passively cool the building using the stack effect. The concept of threshold is guided by light and regulated by the module.
