These modular prefab residential homes are designed for the narrow lots of the Cottage Home Neighborhood in downtown Indianapolis. Each unit is capable of being a small one-bedroom home to a large 3-bedroom family home. The selected neighborhood for the project is located only 2 miles from downtown Indianapolis, but it seems towns away. The atmosphere takes you back in time, and outside of city limits with its streets of late 19th century Victorian homes. This area has not seen many new projects being built and part of the goal is to bring this vocabulary to the design of the EcHouse.
The design was inspired by early 1890’s homes in the existing neighborhood. The over exaggerated dormer and tucked to the side front porch was influenced by the typical home in the area.
