The spirit of Detroit and historic Fort Wayne inspired this dynamic land port of entry. The border crossing station’s three-dimensional form mirrors the fort’s pointed star plan. Based on the diagrid structure, the perforated steel façade protects the interior and controls light. Sculpting the topography elevates the monumental structure, a way finding device as you cross the bridge. This fortification evokes a sense of safety for the station while enhancing visibility for travelers.
